Welcome to the SuperSnoop homepage. Here you can peruse information on Fresh Software’s first second commerical product, SuperSnoop.

Whats New:

05/29/99 – Updated header on SuperSnoop page. OK, this section of the FS website hasn’t been updated since Fresh Software’s site was launched last fall. Oh well.

Now that Sentry is done, and X-NetStat 3 is done except for documentation, it’s time for me to really consider how I want to do SuperSnoop version 2. I started an alpha version last fall that got pretty far feature-wise, but it was basically just a bunch of tools thrown together. Now, I’m wondering if that is the best way to do things. I must decide whether to continue with the code I have, and maintain it as a “toolbelt” type program, or I can ditch what I have so far and try making it more intelligent.

In order to locate someone using the power of the Internet, you have to start out with some given information, such as an email or IP address. For veterans of the Internet and its various forms, it would be no problem to know how to use a toolbelt to gather information on that person. However, for the newbie, they wouldn’t know where to begin. Because of this, I may consider rewriting what I have started on SuperSnoop 2 and make it more automatic, more logical, and more intelligent aside from the user running the program. This provides me with a personal challenge, as I have never attempted to write AI or heavy driven logistic flow programs before. If I can pull it off, however, I will have a very powerful tool. Imagine just providing SuperSnoop with the few pieces of information you have on a person, clicking a button, and having SS report back to you in 5 minutes with detailed records on what it could find. And the whole time, you were talking on the phone with a friend.

So anyway, it is once again in the planning process, but more so now than ever before. I want to think it through before I pick up the project again. Do you have any ideas? Let me know. icos@arez.com

(old) SuperSnoop is stalled until Sentry can be finished. The project hasn’t been dropped!
